Library Construction/Renovation News

Artistic rendering of the family entrance.

Interior library renovations have begun. Plans include a new teen area, a new story time area, and a family entrance (artistic rendering above). Any changes to normal operations will be announced with as much notice as possible. Completion is expected in early spring 2020. Read more.

Program highlights from November to January 2020

Decorating with the First Ladies

Sunday, December 1 at 2:00 pm. Meet Coleen Christian Burke, a longtime resident of Bucks County, who will share the magic of White House Christmas decorating from Jackie Kennedy through Melania Trump. See our First Families, in both public and private moments, as they celebrated the most wonderful time of the year in the most famous home in America, the White House. Read more. Cruise into Kindergarten Programs

Registration for children's Cruise into Kindergarten programs begins on November 25. Storytime for 3s and 4s is from January 13 to February 10 on Monday mornings at 10:00 am, and for 4s and 5s on Monday afternoons at 1:30 pm. Books & Babies for pre-walking children from birth to 12 months and their caregivers is from February 24 to March 23. Programs take place on Mondays from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, and again on Mondays from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. Young Adult Book Tasting

Wednesday, December 4. 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Tweens and teens, come “taste” a variety of teen titles. Rotate tables to experience all genres of young adult books, and maybe find a new favorite to take home. Sample genres include Adventure, Chick Lit, Classics, Contemporary fiction, Diaries, Dystopian, Family & relationships, Fantasy, LGBTQ Graphic novels, Horror, Historical fiction, Humorous stories, Mystery, Poetry, Paranormal, Romance, Sci-fi, Short Stories, Steampunk, and Verse novels. For kids in grade 6 and higher. Registration is not required.

NaNoWriMo for Young Adults

Fridays in November at 3:00 pm. (November 1 to 29.) Drop-in event in the teen area starting on November 1st– also the start of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), to work on your own creative writing project. For kids in gtade 6 and higher.  Read more.

10th Annual Holiday Movie Extravaganza

Monday, December 23 at 6:30 pm. Come to the library’s 10th Annual Holiday Movie Extravaganza in your pajamas ready to be transported to the Jolly Old England! Join us for The Muppet Christmas Carol, and enjoy popcorn and apple juice, and maybe a few surprises. For families with children age 4 and up. Baryna - Russian Music, Dance, and Song!

Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm. The Russian music, dance and song ensemble Barynya (Russian: Барыня) is known as the premier Russian folk ensemble outside of Russia. Barynya presents Russian, Cossack, Ukrainian, Jewish and Gypsy Roma traditional dancing, music, songs, and virtuoso performances on instruments including the balalaika, garmoshka (Russian folk button accordion) and balalaika contrabass. With their vibrant costumes and lively dance and music, Barynya will transport us across the world without ever leaving the library! This Friends Children’s Program is suitabe for children in grades K-5. Registation is not required, and everyone is welcome.

More Great Young Adult Programs

If you are in grade 6 and higher, drop-in after school to Tween Lounge for middle schoolers on Wednesdays (except for the first Wednesday of the month) from 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm, and Teen Lounge for high schoolers every Thursday from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Play Playstation games (including online games like Overwatch and Fortnite), tabletop games such as Munchkin and 5-Minute Dungeon, or utilize our art supplies to create. Dungeons & Dragons is a role-playing tabletop fantasy game hosted by Hershey High School's Dungeons & Dragons Club. Drop-in to play on Fridays from 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm. Come for fun game-play and camaraderie. No registration needed. Saturdays from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, stop by the library for checkerboard fun and play Chess. Beginners are welcome!
